Morchard Bishop is situated in the heart of Mid-Devon, about 2miles off the A377 Crediton to Barnstaple Road.

By Car ..[Back to top]

From the West : Turn off the main A30 Exeter road to Okehampton. Follow the A3072 to Copplestone. Turn left onto the A377. In 3 miles at Morchard Road, turn right at the Devonshire Dumpling pub and follow the road for 2 miles to Morchard Bishop.

From the North: Take the A377 Exeter road from Bideford/ Barnstaple. At Morchard Road turn left by the Devonshire Dumpling pub and follow the road for 2 miles to Morchard Bishop.

From the East: Take the A30 from Honiton towards Exeter. Join the M5 south at junction 29. Leave the motorway at junction 31 (end of M5) taking the A30 northwards toward Okehampton. Turn off onto the A377 in 2 miles towards Crediton. Proceed on the A377 through Crediton and Copplestone and at Morchard Road, turn right at the Devonshire Dumpling pub and follow the road for 2 miles to Morchard Bishop.

From the North East: Follow the M5 southwards and turn off at junction 27 and take the North Devon Link Road A361 to Tiverton. At the end of the dual carriageway turn left at the roundabout onto the A3126. Keep bearing right at the mini roundabotes and after passing Safeways on the left, turn right at the next mini roundabout. In a short distance turn left onto the B3137 ("Long Drag Hill") which is signposted to Witheridge. In approx 6 miles, turn left signposted to Puddington and Black Dog and follow the lanes through to Morchard Bishop. (This all sounds much harder than it really is!)

Morchard Bishop is the half-way point on the Two Moors Way, a 89 mile stunning walk which links the National Parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor. Starting at Ivybridge on the Southern edge of Dartmoor and finishing at Lynmouth on Exmoor's North Devon coast it also crosses some beautiful mid-Devon countryside.

Morchard Bishop is served a regular bus service by Turner Tours, no 369 which serves Chumleigh, Lapford, Morchard Bishop, Copplestone, Sandford, Crediton and Exeter. There are some five buses per day. Click here for a link to latest timetable.

 

By Rail..[Back to top]

The rail service from Exeter to Barnstaple is run by Wessex Trains and is known as the Tarka Line.

The nearest station to Morchard Bishop is Morchard Road, just 2 miles away.

The journey time from Exeter takes approximately 25 minutes.
